seed starting though. Organic compost is more like an additive or side dressing or fertilizer...call it what you like. Mine is too hot to directly start seeds, young plants, etc. Your best and most successful seed medium is by ex: Miracle Grow Seed Starting potting mix. It's light and aireates the seed and within days waa laa plants. It was explained like this to me...yes dirt will work but nonsoil seed medium is like nailing a nail with a hammer and dirt is like nailing it with the heel on your shoe....it works but it's not the best.
