Hi All!

Wow, it's been awhile since I have written a post here, I have been busy with my other blogs, raising German Shepherd puppies and like most...life in general!

My husband and I have tried to keep our garden going with this heat. Being that we are newbies to gardening I think we are doing ok. For sure the fruit trees and pumpkin patch are growing good, the tomatoes, jalepeno peppers and bell peppers are coming up well...but the strawberries look sad:(,
I will work on them!

Our Sutainable Valentines Day!

Our Valentines Day was a fun family affair with a dinner prepared with everything that came from my CSA box....carrots, sweet potato fries, green salad and a few other goodies!

There was no candy this year, my treats were compostable gardening containers filled with seeds from my favorite company Botanical Interests!

We had a great time planting our seedlings & hope to add them to our new family garden soon!

If you are buying toys for your favorite kids...beware 1 in 3 are toxic

This Christmas, when you’re shopping for the little ones in your
life, don’t just thoughtlessly grab toys off the store shelves. An
environmental group found that a mind-boggling 1 in 3 toys tested was
found to contain toxic chemicals like lead, flame retardants and
arsenic. The Ecology Center tested more than 1,500 popular toys for
contaminants and found that one-third of them contain “… Continue

It was a Modesto Farmers Market Day & Very Pretty things!

Today I went to the Farmers Market in Modesto, as usual I am amazed at the attendance and of course the amount of local farmers that participate, we are very lucky to have such a great market in our area

In this unstable economy it was good to see this market being supported by locavores. It can always be counted on for a Saturday morning of yummy breakfast goodies, music, flowers and a huge selection of foods at their seasonal peak.

I left with 2 packs of tomato seeds from… Continue

Thank you for the welcome to the group, I am pleased to be here. It was a pleasure indeed to meet you at the Los Banos May Day Fair, how exciting to see that there are lots of other avid gardeners, who share my passion. I have 4 neighbors who are also avid gardeners, I will have to share the group with them as well. Today is one of my 5 childrens birthdays so I will have to take the day off from planting to celebrate a 6th birthday party, but I will be out in my backyard; which my husband calls "Sandywood Forest" gardening and weeding and soaking my greenhouses down again in full force tomorrow. As for sharing my gourmet cooking and baking with my garden fruits, nuts, veggies and herbs I will be having a bake sale at my home on June 20th, (Father's Day weekend) with fresh baked goods, jams and jellies made with fruit and veggies grown from right here in Los Banos, I will send you a flyer / invite as it gets closer. Again, thanks for the friendly welcome, I hope to meet some new friends, share plants, and give & receive planting / gardening knowledge & tips. Happy Gardening! Hi! Thank you so much, I will take any help I can get. I was telling my friend about the "new" farmers market in Turlock, and that you were setting it up in a parking lot. Do you have a spot? We have an idea, are you familiar with Garton Tractor? Awesome site, right on Golden State. Let's talk and give one another details. Her husband works for Garton, and we have not discussed this with them as of yet. Thanks

This year I am actually setting up a stand on my property. It's a pretty good location in Madera. I want to get into the farmer's markets around here but I have to find out more information on that.
