The hot but fun...Heartland Festival at Double T Acres!

This event took me by surprise, it was our first time at the infamous Double T Acres and what a hidden gem right here in our central valley!

This started as a small family dairy in 1951, and now second generation owner Tony T. Azevedo has turned this farm into "agritainment" hosting many events surrounded with a unique old western charm full of collectables.
Tony was the first farmer in the San Joaquin valley to make the transition from traditional to organic farming and has been an ambassador for Organic Valley educating in sustainable farming believing in the importance of organics and the environment.

Despite the heat The Heartland Festival was an event that should be on the top of the valleys list of to do's with local foods, wagon rides, music and a whole lot more.
Our "Hey Honey Lemonade" was the perfect drink of the day hitting the spot for all!

I even had the pleasure of meeting two of our Local Choices members Brandy Rucker, Rose Wickler and their beautiful children....thanks for coming out ladies!

Please visit Thedoublet.com to see all this farm has to offer.

Like what? I know when we go camping we burn wood, then when it's glowing red and not flaming anymore, we grill steaks over it. Yum.

My winter garden is usually better than my summer garden. In the summer it's too hot to go out and weed! It's buggy out there, and I have gophers. So I only have a so-so summer garden, but my winter garden is better. I'm planting NOW (early Sept)...

That's a great box, did you have plastic or glass over it in the coldest months? Or was it open all winter?
